we've had one of these for years. still have it but its showing how much its been used. Love this map book. take it on road trips and especially camping. we like to go 4wheeling up north and randomly choose a campground using this map. also has interesting facts about every county. much better when the maps are separated by county instead of a grid. had a grid map before. it was hard to use. highly recommend this map book.

It was in better shape than I expected! It was for my husband and he is very happy!

I have other Atlas's but this one is the one I like the best. I find it the most complete for the info I need.

This is the best atlas for us to use in our business. I had that it's not available anymore. The new one is horrible to figure out township, and section #'s.

This is used on all my photographic outings (and geo-caching), both as a traveling map and as a record keeping journal. A pen is used for notating where pictures were taken as well as places and to call attention to things and places that are possible future photo ops. Secondly, a yellow highlighter is used to record roads taken on each trip. Combining both makes for a powerful photographer's planner and journal. The down-side is that it's very difficult to flip from page to page. The State is divided by counties (with fabulous detailed features) within West to East strips. Most roads don't run exactly horizontal, so you may need to cross over several levels of 'strips'. There are "continue on page..." notations on all four sides of each page, which does help some. However, too many details on the outer edges of the pages are difficult to find and read (like my home is nearly invisible.) This situation would be improved by allowing a larger margin for the notations, so that they don't cover pertinent details. The book is huge and includes more info than you would think you could need (like every water spot in the State and wildlife preserves, etc.) However, it's amazing how many places you can find that you didn't even know you were looking for.Add a 'regular' map to this Atlas, and you're good to go for years of pleasurable traveling.

This book is a wonderful addition to any Michigan traveler's atlas collection. The book's large format leaves its maps of each county free to set out backroads down to the smallest trail, which is done in most cases without error. A few typos and mislabelings of smaller features exist, but they are rare enough that the overall quality of the work is not diminished. I particularly like the "hydrology" feature, listing all county lakes, and the fact that each county's map shows, AND labels, border roads as they go into an adjacent county. The book is not for one seeking to explore cities, but is magnificent for anyone who wants to go leaf-peeping, hunting, or make other use of Michigan's wonderful, colorful, more remote areas. It is a four-wheeler's delight. If you fit any of these categories, you will love this book and use it frequently. It is a real bargain.

The book is very large, but the print and maps are very small. Some of the maps take up two pages, but part of the map is unreadable because it's lost in the binding. I have an older Michigan County Guide, by a different company, and it has more details and is easier to read. This book is missing many roads, if you need to find a major place you'd probably find it with a magnifying-glass, but for those small areas and streets - forget it they are not on these maps.

I used the Universal Map book for a number of years. Then one day I saw the Delorme Atlas And Gazetteer. The Delorme Atlas is way better, much better use of color, much better topographic information, hiking trail info, and easier to navigate.
