It is "A Guide to Lifelong Well-Being"Very informative book to become acquainted with all the benefits of yoga, or to enrich and enhance your yoga practice. Sequences are easy to follow, with no crazy pretzel poses to intimidate you. We all want to keep, or improve, our mobility, balance and feel vital as we age. I recommend this book to keep the juices flowing mentally and physically. The authors present the information in a very down to earth and easy to understand manner.

This is the book I have been waiting for. I am 74 years old and have practiced yoga for many years starting in my 20s. Now, I am ready to customize my yoga practice to meet my present needs. My husband has just started practicing at age 79 and is appreciative of the photographs and the common sense guidelines in the book which we hope will lead to "lifelong well-being."

This is an excellent book that thoroughly explains a variety of yoga practices for working out at home. The descriptions of the poses are well-described and photographed. There are options for strength, flexibility and balance.I recommend this book and would purchase it again.

After hearing Baxter present at an Accessible Yoga conference in San Francisco, I waited patiently for my book to arrive once it was released. The authors are so clear on the presentation and I love the multiple ways they show to do each pose. I teach chair yoga to seniors and others with physical limitations. The Contraindications section is invaluable. This is my new "go-to" resource and I have already introduced much of what I have read into my classes. Thank you so much!

This book is a great companion to Baxter Bell Yoga's videos on YouTube and the Yoga for Healthy Aging blog (recently gone on hiatus). While the techniques are simple, the depth of explanation is just right for anyone to practice or teach. I always enjoy a good hard copy reference, but bought this one on Kindle as well, so I'd have a copy for the road. I've recommended this book to all of my teaching staff and other wellness professionals in the community who are interested in keeping yoga accessible for graceful aging.

I’ve been looking forward to the release of this book and it did not disappoint. Clearly written and well organized for someone new to the practice or a seasoned yogi. I love the sequences offered for practice and with suggested longer hold times and/or dynamic flows you have a well rounded and challenging practice. What a fresh view of aging.

Under normal circumstances I would have quit this book around the 20% mark. But since I was reading this for Netgalley I decided I needed to finish this book. Things did not get better for me.'More Than This' starts with Mikayla, who is 18 years old, heading to her senior prom. Her prom experience quickly becomes a disaster when she catches her boyfriend of 4 years having sex with her best friend. She finds comfort in a group of strangers that are also having their prom night but are from a different school. They instantly take her in. And one boy in this group catches her eye more than anybody else. Mikayla's life changes forever after that night in more ways than one.*sigh*This book was incredibly juvenile and unrealistic. And there is nothing I hate more than instalove or teenagers acting like they are mature, sexually advanced adults.A few examples:*A tragedy occurs in Mikayla's life the night of prom. She is instantly taken in by the 18 year old boy that invited her to his prom with him. His parents welcome her into their home and let her sleep in his bed with him (while he just wears his boxers) to provide her comfort. They don't bat an eye that they've never seen her before and have no problem with 2 eighteen years sleeping together.*He's so sexually advanced that he's slept with 30-50 girls/women but lately he's slowing down and focusing on his baseball. Okay then.*The characters decide that they are falling in love with each other after just a day or two. They don't tell each other. They just think it to themselves. In fact, they never seem to talk about their relationship out loud. They seem to prefer having a confusing, frustrating non-relationship that continues to be the core of their problems throughout the book.*So much drama happens that it seems contrived and unrealistic. I can't really list this out without spoiling the fun.*Mikayla discovers she is a screamer. Even when she masturbates. She actually screams out Jake's name over and over while masturbating without even realizing she was doing it. And then notices she is hoarse.I understand that I am in the minority here as there are quite a few 4 and 5 star reviews. You laugh with them, cry with them, get angry with them, love with them, and fight FOR them! You want it all, for them. You know why? Because Jay MCLean is a master with words! She knows when and how to be witty, funny, snarky, loving, angry, sad, and she isn't afraid to pull out drunk Lucy when necessary! She makes this book everything!More Than This starts off with making you laugh. Then moves on to pissing you off and making you swoon all within a handful of pages. Then you laugh and swoon some more. Then it hits! And you're like, wait......what!? How can this be!? The horror, literally!! Then you sob! Throughout all of MTT this happens to you. You will go through a myriad of emotions and they will cycle through on many occasions. You never know when you'll go from swooning to crying to laughing, all within minutes!With dual POVs, you get both Jake's and Mikayla's emotions. And Jake.....just swoon! He's perfect, really he is!!If you haven't yet, get a copy of More Than This and read what all the fuss is about! Because really? The book is really worth it and is everything!

I came across this one on facebook and I have to say that I am so glad I did. This story rips your heart out and then slowly puts it back together. Jay McLean has done a magnificent job.Mikayla's life completely falls apart in the course of one evening and lucky for her she found Jake Andrews. My god, that boy was amazing.I was immediately drawn to this story and couldn't put it down. At first you may think this story has already been told because of what happens out of the gate to Mikayla, but trust me you couldn't be further from the truth. This one is a roller coaster ride and I am so glad I took it. Trust me when I say this More Than This is one of those stories that will stick with you in the end, and what an ending it is.I'm not a fan of cliffhangers (there isn't one), but it does leave you ready for the next story.Jay McLean developed characters that made you laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time. I felt so drawn in that I didn't want it to end. The supporting characters are amazing especially Lucy and Logan and the interactions between everyone leave you wishing you could be part of that group of friends.To me that is the mark of a great author, a story so realistic that you feel everything they are going through and this one does that for you. I am definitely looking forward to more for this author, because this one was pretty close to perfect.

I loved it to the point were I didn't do anything like errands for the weekend because I was not going to put the book down! This story pulls at your heart and makes you want to push and argue alone (or like we do- to the book). Jake is perfect and patient, protective, loyal and understanding. He is a rock when it comes to dealing with the unexpected all at once because what life threw at Mikayla was devastating. Not only him, every character in this book serves a purpose. New friends are great and bring some lightness and fun to the story that is more than needed too. The author did a great job with this story because it grabs you and makes you desperate but for some unique reason it also makes you feel that love that the characters have for each other. Makes you sympathize. Like I said- I loved it. Gave me a hangover.

I was extremely excited to read this book, what with Jenish's claims that he got his hands on years of NHL board room notes and minutes. However, I was quickly disappointed. The book starts out on a pretty bad note, as his entire introduction basically exists to let you know how wonderful he is and that he is the only person in history that has ever gotten the amount of notes and files that he obtained. But then as you proceed through the book, it is very apparent (and backed up by his bibliography) that he does not, in actuality, have that many notes from NHL board meetings. He has a good collection of them in the middle of the 20th century, and to be honest it is the most fascinating part of the book. But the rest of the book is all quick hits and stories from NHL history that read like an extended Wikipedia page. If he wrote a book solely on the one-of-a-kind information he claimed he had, it would just be a story about the NHL in the 1950s and 1960s. I give the extra one star for the amount of work that went into him obtaining the board meeting notes that he had and presenting it word for word, rather than cherry-picking facts. But outside of those few chapters, the book was very poorly done.

This is a history of the league's business side. On ice action is secondary to the ups and downs of the NHL as a business entity, and as Jenish makes clear, there have been ups and downs aplenty. Jenish does not fail to assign either blame or praise, but does so in a balanced way while keeping his story moving -- he's a very capable writer.Most every hockey fan will learn something here, some of it surprising. This is especially the case for the chapters dealing with the Ziegler presidency, expansion, the WHA, and the growing militancy of the players association. The early Bettman years are covered somewhat less well; the closing chapter covering the years between 2005 and about 2010 is the weakest in the book. Jenish notes the changing nature of the NHL, both the corporate entity and the game itself, but only gestures at the issues these changes raise for many of the league's longtime fans (myself included) for whom the culture of hockey is a large part of what makes it The Game. Had he done more in this regard, and had the last chapter been stronger, I would have given five stars.

fantastic look inside the history of the NHL. fans already know the names, but if you're like me, you don't know who they really were and why they were so important. this book opens up the stories behind the franchises and the league in a way like no other book i have read. i never knew how close to folding teams like Chicago and Detroit were early on and how lucky we are in St. Louis to even have a franchise. a must read for any hockey fan!

This book was eye opening in it's detail of how the business of hockey and the NHL has been done...The meticulous information included covering important events in the history of the NHL make this book even more interesting. if you're a fan of hockey and the NHL you will enjoy this book, but I think casual reader will enjoy reading just what goes into forming the pro leagues many follow

Jenish’s history of the NHL is an interesting read and somewhat of an insider’s look at the working of the league since its inception. A must read for hockey buffs and while at times somewhat confusing as to who’s making the comment, it is still a worthwhile and interesting read.

Detailed research makes for a fascinating read. The book gives a balanced view of the economics of hockey.A must read for any hockey fan.

This is a very well written book about a very long tradition, tracing the origin of Ground Hog Day back to Germanic legends and, in the U.S., crediting German settlers with popularizing the holiday.Yoder early attempts at meteorology included trying to predict future weather cycles based on moon phases and time of year. A bit of old Scottish doggerel sums up the belief about Candlemas, sometimes credited as the source of the holiday:If Candlemass Day be dry and fair,The half o’winter’s to come and mair [more];If Candlemass Day be wet and foul,The half of winter’s gane [gone] at Yule.One point I would like to make: professionals often point out that Phil is wrong 60% of the time, crediting Phil with accuracy only 40% of the time. "You would be better off flipping an honest coin rather than consulting Phil" according to a recent press release.I beg to differ.It may be people who have the interpretation wrong. As far as I have been able to determine, no one has ever actually spoken with Phil or any of his species.Perhaps if there is no shadow, Phil goes back because he knows there are six more weeks of winter. A shadow is good news because the sun is shining and he stays out. Makes perfect sense to me, but then I'm not a ground hog so what do I know.But I can do the sums., and if you merely reverse the message, Phil becomes accurate 60% of the time, better than any old honest coin at predicting the weather.Robert C.
